About the process

  • Take the top 30% of decklists of all standard tournaments from the release of RWR (2024-03-18) to today.
  • Use a big clustering algorithm to group them all together.
  • This time I'm using DBSCAN. This has a few advantages:
    • Determines it's own number of clusters
    • Excludes noise, which takes out anomalies like Ampere decks and off-meta combos
    • Decently configurable
    • Deterministic output
  • As a result. some decklists are lost to the noise factor. I think this is probably correct if we want just the meta you'd expect to win a given big tournament, but some examples of things that are lost are:
    • Prison MirrorMorph
    • Nuvem
    • PE lists
    • Kill Outfit
    • Stab Criminals
    • Mercury
    • Seb
  • I think most of these exclusions are fine except maybe the PE and Outfit? Will continue tweaking.
